Add spice to dinner by engaging the family in a game of “I spy” where each participant in turn finds something on the table that a mouse might be able to use.  After the dish, food or utensil has been guessed through a series of questions, the person who selected the item, must explain to the others what the mouse might do with the item.  For examples:  A fork might be a weapon, bread might be a blanket, a saucer might be a mouse Frisbee, salt might be used to skate upon, etc.

Hide-and-seek is a favorite children’s game.  Before playing however, boundaries should be set for appropriate places to hide inside or out so things don’t get out of hand.  One child is Jackie who is going to try to catch the mice to put in her cage.  A hand tap on the discovered mouse means he or she is caught.  As always, each player should take turns being Jackie.

Crazy stories lead to lots of laughs.  Fill-in-the-blank stories using parts of speech can be really goofy and fun for everyone.  Download a Deli story here to enjoy together.

If you enjoy writing, make up your own fill-in-the-blank story yourself based on “Deli’s Pickle” or write a totally different story.

Enjoy a masquerade party at home.  Make costumes from odd pieces of clothing, sheets, toilet paper or Halloween costumes.  Wear a mask, put on some music and dance, sing, and take pictures.  Switch costumes with others.  Chances are they won’t fit well.  Take more pictures!
